The Surrendered Life

Yup, I’m here to dish out another one of Oswald Chambers’ excerpts from his book “My Utmost For His Highest” and you can get all of his entries in the publication by going to the Category with the same title.

Emphasis will be mine throughout….read, enjoy and profit from the insights of a truly Spiritual saint (please reference the Category on “Who Is A Saint”). Here goes:

“I have been crucified with Christ….Galatians 2:20.

To become one with Jesus Christ, a person must be willing not only to give up sin, but also to surrender his whole way of looking at things. Being born again by the Spirit of God means that we must first be willing to let go before we can grasp something else. The first thing we must surrender is all of our pretense or deceit. What our Lord wants us to present to Him is not our goodness, honesty, or our efforts to do better, but real solid sin. Actually, that is all He can take from us. And WHAT HE GIVES US IN EXCHANGE FOR OUR SIN IS REAL SOLID RIGHTEOUSNESS. But we must surrender all pretense that we are anything, and give up all our claims of even being worthy of God’s consideration.

Once we have done that, the Spirit of God will show us what we need to surrender next. Along each step of the process, we will have to give up our claims to our rights to ourselves. Are we willing to surrender our grasp on ALL that we possess, our desires, and everything else in our lives? Are we ready to be identified with the death of Jesus Christ?

We will suffer a sharp painful disillusionment before we fully surrender. When people really see themselves as the Lord sees them, it is not the terribly offensive sins of the flesh that shock them, but the awful nature of the pride of their own hearts opposing Jesus Christ. When they see themselves in the light of the Lord, the shame, horror, and desperate conviction hit home for them.

If you are faced with the question of whether or not to surrender, make a determination to go on through the crisis, surrendering all that you have and all that you are to Him. And God will then equip you to do all that He requires of you.”

Thank God Continually For Being The Way He Is

Hey, there!

First of all, it defies human logic and the laws of science that there even is God. They scream out that something can never come from nothing and every thing has to have a beginning; so, how could God have no beginning?  Was there never a nothing to begin with? Ha!….I’m rightly confused!!

Anyway, after we come into our glory, I sure hope we will be able to ‘understand’ how our Father first got there!

We so take for granted that God is as PERFECT as He IS as well as for what He PERFECTLY is NOT.

lies, leaves us alone NOR fails us, is unfair, is moody, is prejudice, is weak, is tired or sleepy, subjects us to anything that is not for our good, is mean spirited, makes a mistake, is caught by surprise at anything, is defeated, sins and is NEVER everything else we can think of that is negative, evil and smacks of failure.

I have a calendar in my kitchen with different pictures for each month showing awesome views of the universe. They are truly  a wonderful reminder of His awesome power, the likes of which I am sure is just a SMALL SAMPLE of what we will discover and experience when we come into the Kingdom. You can reference the Post “God’s Creative Handiwork” for some breathtaking  displays.

Our Father also truly LOVES BEAUTY….besides those sample we see around us in nature, it is further illustrated by the description of the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21:18-21.,,,JUST BEAUTIFUL!

Likewise, our Lord, Savior, Brother, Friend, and King ,Christ Jesus, is as PERFECTLY PERFECT as is His and our Father.

We should be so THANKFUL that the RULING POWER and CONTROL in all creation is not with someone like Satan; but rather, is with our Father and Jesus….and we should THANK Them TIME AND TIME AGAIN throughout the day and night with a short, spontaneous acknowledgment  of “THANK You for being there as You are”.

All the best, in Him.

Nothing Happens Without God’s Permission

Hello, again!

Nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, happens on this earth or in the heavens without the explicit ‘permission’ of God and Christ Jesus. Quite literally, there is no such thing as an ‘accident’!

John 1:3 informs us that “not even one thing came into being which has come into being” apart from God creating it through Jesus Christ. And, Colossians  1:15-17 not only confirms this but reminds us that “in Him, ALL THINGS HOLD TOGETHER” (emphasis mine). In other words, EVERYTHING is controlled by Him.

An illustration of this is in Job 1:6,12; 2:6 where Satan, himself, is shown to be limited ONLY to what God gives him ‘permission’ to carry out.

It should not concern us as to who is President of the United States or who rules any country on this earth because we know that God and Jesus Christ ALLOWED her/him or them to be in that position in accord with Their Own Divine purpose (Romans 13:1)….even though they may be humanly foolish and/or evil like Pharaoh (Romans 9:17), Hitler and other similar sickos.

Another example of this is in John 19:11 where Jesus tells Pilate “You would have no authority against Me, if it were not having been given you from above….”.

No President, head of state or ruler of any country  can carry out any decision or policy they have made UNLESS God and Jesus give them  ‘permission’ to do so:

“Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word.” (Proverbs 16:1….The Message Bible)   Forecasters speculate on the possibility of an asteroid(s) striking the earth but this should NOT concern Christians because we know it will not happen without the ‘permission’ of God and Jesus. If it does happen, it is for Their Divine purpose and for our good, as well as the eventual good of all mankind. (Please reference the Post “All Creation Will Be Saved”)

This is true in our personal lives, obviously. Whatever circumstances you and I find ourselves in God and Christ Jesus not only allowed them but also engineered them….for Their Divine purpose with each of us.

The best example of why God and Jesus can allow such overwhelming evil, suffering and any circumstance to exist is the crucifixion of Jesus, Himself.

The GREATEST wrong, evil and sin EVER committed by any human or humans was when Jesus was crucified. The creation tortured its Creator and then nailed Him to a tree to suffer the most agonizing of deaths.

However, as it is with ALL the evil, wrongs and sufferings we have existing today, God gave ‘permission’ to have His Son go through this for His Divine purpose. We will clearly see why He could and can do this as explained below.

God actually takes this GREATEST of evils and sins and turns it into the GREATEST  BLESSING for the ENTIRE creation, even for those who did the crucifying! What love, power and wisdom does our God and Father have!!

This is the reason God and Jesus Christ can allow such awful suffering and circumstances to exist in the world: if God can take the GREATEST evil/sin (the Crucifixion) and turn it into the ENTIRE creation’s GREATEST BLESSING….which is their ultimate glorious salvation….how much ‘easier’ will it be for God, through Christ Jesus, to eventually bring about blessings and a glorious ending from ALL the ‘lesser’ evils, sins and sufferings that exist today, as well as in times past. (Please reference the Post “All Creation Will Be Saved”)

How blessed and fortunate we Christians (as well as, eventually, the ENTIRE creation) are to have a Father and Savior such as we have…. and we should be continually giving thanks to Them for this.

Later, in Him,

This applies to every aspect of our Christian journey except for one: we SHOULD give up depending on our own human abilities in our walk of faith: “….that we may not be trusting on ourselves, but on God….” (2 Corinthians 1:9).

Regarding our failures and multiple sins, I always remember the words of William Law in one of his writings (I cannot remember which one as I have read so many of his works). He STRONGLY emphasized that as long as we have a breath to breathe, we should never give up looking to God and Christ Jesus for forgiveness (as well as help), no matter how severe our past and most recent sins may be….and if it is done with a sincere and heart felt repentance.

The absolute horrendous sins committed by King David with Bathsheba and Uriah are an excellent example of just how merciful God and Christ Jesus can be, as discussed further in the Post “David’s Heinous Sin vs God’s Mercy”.

Regarding our efforts to Spiritually grow and come into a more personal and deeper relationship with God and Christ Jesus, the following two examples serve to clearly illustrate this truth of never giving up.

The first is the author of the of the book THE CLOUD OF UNKNOWING ( ). This Christian was unceasingly seeking a closer relationship with God and the Lord with (literally) almost moment by moment supplication to Them during every waking hour. And yet, this person was constantly met with no response from Them. This Christian went on to say that at times it was as if a steel, locked door (or similar words) had been placed between her/his access to the Father and Jesus.

Nevertheless, this believer NEVER,EVER gave up, and eventually reached amazing Spiritual heights.

The second example is Brother Lawrence as revealed in his book PRACTICING THE PRESENCE OF GOD (please reference the Post by this same title). During his efforts to become closer to God and the Lord, he wrote that “It seemed to me that all creatures, reason, and God Himself were against me and faith alone for me.”

And yet, he persisted and eventually came to experience the astonishing and ‘supernatural’ presence with the Father and Christ Jesus as described in his book (

We can say NEVER because He says NEVER: “I will NEVER desert you, NOR will I EVER forsake you”. (Hebrews 13:5)

All in best, in Him.

God Can Give Nothing But Blessing And Goodness

Hi, there! It is true, with God being ABSOLUTE and TOTAL love (1 John 4:8,16), it is IMPOSSIBLE for Him, and Christ Jesus, to give forth anything but blessing and goodness,as contrary as this may seem at times….for example, what God allowed to happen to Job in Chapters 1 and 2.

Here is an excerpt from the SPIRIT OF LOVE by William Law ( the full article is at ):

” (God) can give nothing but Blessing, Goodness, and Happiness from himself because he has in himself nothing else to give. It is much more possible for the Sun to give forth Darkness, than for God to do, or be, or give forth anything but Blessing and Goodness.”

Because the Father and Christ Jesus allow such a magnitude of suffering to have existed and to exist in the world during these “ages” is actually a testament to that Divine Love. And keep in mind, all the suffering, misery and horrible conditions that have existed and are existing in this world are a result of Satan being the ‘ruler of this world’ (Please see the Post by this same title), as well the acts of evil and sinful humans. God and Jesus allow it because They can use it to bring about Their glorious purpose at the conclusion of the ages. (Please reference the Post “All Creation Will Be Saved”.)

It is a ‘blessing’ and it is ‘goodness’ that They let us incur (limited) suffering when we sin and also when we suffer as a result of the sins of others as well as the Adversary’s satanic ways. God and Christ Jesus allowed sin to enter the world so that we could experience the painful and disastrous results when ANYTHING and EVERYTHING  are not done in accordance with Their will and Their way. (Please reference the Posts “Suffering” and “Why Should We Suffer For Adam and Eve’s Screwup!!!” for further clarification and additional Scriptures on this.)

Even the torment and anguish the worst of  sinners will experience after the Great White Throne Judgment is actually described as “chastening” by Concordant Literal NT and “correction” by Rotherham’s in Matthew 25:46 (this same Greek word [kolasis] is translated the exact same way by these two versions in 1 John 4:18). Also, the first definition listed for ‘kolasis’ by Strong’s Concordance is “correction”.

In other words, it is a ‘correcting’ and ‘chastening’ to bring about a right from that which was wrong, and NOT just a “punishment” involving pain and suffering  with not beneficial results.

And, their ‘chastening’ and ‘correction’ is ONLY “eonian” (Concordant), “age-abiding” (Rotherham’s) and “age-during” (Young’s), and is NOT “eternal” or “everlasting” as a majority of the Bible versions mis-translate it.

God invented “tough love” and this is a ‘blessing’ and true ‘goodness’ for these sinners when they are finally brought around to become a part of the “all” when God is “All in all” (1 Corinthians 15:28).

NOTHING comes to Christians that is not for our ultimate good and blessedness (Romans 8:28), and this is likewise true even of ALL Creation at the end of the ages (again, 1 Corinthians 15:28).

ALWAYS keep in mind Romans 8:18: “For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory about to be revealed in us”. (Modern Young’s Literal Translation) Again in 2 Corinthians 4:17: “for the momentary lightness of the tribulation in a manner more and more excelling is working out for us an age-abiding weight of glory”. (Rotherham’s)

As well, remember that God: “is giving us all things richly for our enjoyment” (1 Timothy 6:17).

God will balance out our human sufferings with our human enjoyments as He and Christ Jesus know best how to do….where even the sufferings will bring about what is revealed in Romans 8:28.

Oh, and let us remember, Job came out FAR BETTER at the end of his ordeal as revealed in Job 42:5-6, 12.

How blessed and fortunate we Christians are, as well as  the ENTIRE Creation, to have such a God, the Father, and Savior, Christ Jesus, as this….which we take for granted  far too much.

All the best, in Christ,

Why Will The Least In The Reign Of The Heavens Be Greater Than John The Baptist?

Greetings! Matthew 11:11 reads this way (Modern Young’s Literal Translation):

“there has not risen, among those born of women, a greater than John the Baptist, but he who is the least in the reign of the heavens is greater than he.”

That’s quite an endorsement for John by the very Creator of all humans, Himself! Remember, John “shall be full of the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb: (Luke 1:15….Young’s Literal Translation).

However, even though John had no one live a more superior  life as a human being as he had done, he was still HUMAN! And, being human, he was not yet PERFECT.  No matter how small they may have been, John was still capable of making human errors, which is the committing of sins….ONLY Jesus, as a human, was not capable of this.

Please reference the Post on “Our Glorious New Bodies” for a full explanation with the specific Scriptures confirming the following but, basically, it comes down to ONE (which is actually a combination of a number of  factors) reason why Matthew 11:11 is true:

Whereas NOW we (like John) have dying, decaying, fleshly bodies composed of elements of the soil that are DOMINATED by selfish, ‘soulish’ desires, ALL believers will THEN, in our resurrected and/or transfigured state of being, have new, immortal and incorruptible ‘celestial’ bodies filled and DOMINATED by the Holy Spirit ….THAT WILL BE JUST LIKE CHRIST JESUS, HIMSELF! (Philippians 3:21)

Galatians 5:17 (NAS) sums up the present condition of all humans in our present mortal bodies: “17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh ; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.” After the resurrection, as indicated in the previous paragraph, there will be NO HUMAN FLESHLY desires to war against our Holy Spirit filled celestial bodies.

All believers have at the present received the “firstfruits of the Spirit”, or a down payment, so to speak (Romans 8:23); whereas, only Jesus received the Holy Spirit ‘without measure’ as a human (John 3:32-34). At the resurrection, all believers will receive the FULL MEASURE of the Holy Spirit as we take on the very GLORY of Christ Jesus, Himself (2 Thessalonians 2:14)….thus, rendering us incapable of sinning. This is the “crown of righteousness” referred to by Paul in 2 Timothy 4:8. (Please reference the Post “Crown Of Righteousness”)

The Scriptures clearly teach there will be different levels of authority or position granted to each believer based on “rewards” (1 Corinthians 3:8) after the resurrections (please reference the Post “Judgement Seat Of Christ vs Great White Throne Judgment”); HOWEVER, the believer with the “least” position or authority in the Kingdom will still be “greater” than John (was in his human, fleshly body) because of her or his glorified existence as set forth in the Post ” Our Glorious New Bodies” and what is in the above paragraph.

I am quite sure that not many will be above John in his glorious, resurrected existence!

Later, in Christ,

Evil vs Sin

Hello!  Some think these 2 are the same but there is a major difference between them.

Evil is obviously the opposite of good and it can also include sin, which of course is not good. There are 2 kinds of evil….that from non-human sources (hurricanes, etc) and that from humans who are sinning. Hurricanes and the like  always bring bad news as does sinning, in one form or another.

Sin can ONLY involve human actions. A hurricane cannot “sin”, only be “evil” by its nature. Literally, “sin” means to “miss the mark”, make a mistake, fail of the ideal (Concordant Literal New Testament Concordance). This could never apply to non-human sources (hurricanes) as they have no choice in the matter. Only humans can sin.

As for why God can allow both of these to exist and cause great suffering in the world (please see the Post on “Suffering”), it is because He uses BOTH to bring about the BEST for all mankind….EVENTUALLY. At the end of the ages, it will all come to a glorious end for the ENTIRE CREATION when God will be “All in All” (1 Corinthians 15:28). Eventually, the ENTIRE creation will benefit and come into its glory when God is finally ALL IN ALL! This will take place in  different stages as set forth in the Chapter “God’s Eonian Plan and the Present Secret Administration”.

Here is an example of how God can use sin and/or evil for the most glorious good. The crucifixion of our Lord was the GREATEST  sin and evil EVER committed…..the creation murdered its Creator. Yet, God, turns it around and uses it as the creation’s GREATEST BLESSING!!   Because God allowed this  greatest of all sins and evil  to happen, Christ Jesus will now be able draw ALL unto Himself: ” I, if I be lifted up out of the earth will draw ALL (things) unto Myself”.  John 12:32….Rotherham’s Emphasized Bible. (“things” is a footnote rendering….the emphasis is mine) Please reference the Chapters on “All Creation Will Be Saved” and “God’s Eonian Plan and the Present Secret Administration” for further explanation and crystal clear verification of this.

If God can bring about the GREATEST BLESSING from the MOST SUPREME and GREATEST  sin and evil, using all the lesser sins and evil to bring about blessings and good are a “piece of cake” for Him!

Hope to see you later.
