No Partiality With God

Howdy!

This is yet another glorious reason to loveadore and be in total awe of our Father as well as our Brother and King Christ Jesus!

That God (and Jesus) is NEVER partial in dealing with anyone as written in Romans 2:11 and Ephesians 6:9 simply means He and our Lord are always FAIR, whether someone is a Christian or an unbeliever. This is well covered in Romans 2:11-16.

However, the significance of this wonderful truth extends way further than this as it is applied to each person who has ever lived. For instance, someone may appear to be carrying a heavier load or burden than another individual, apart from chastisement for a sin or sins.

But rest assured that this ‘someone’ has been properly fitted to handle that seemingly  heavier load or burden. This is wonderfully illustrated in 1 Corinthians 12:12-25 and reveals  how God and Jesus have fitted each member of the human body to perform its particular and designated function. The foot is never called upon to carry out the task of the nose….and the list goes on.

Likewise, another nice illustration is shown in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 concerning the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If someone is gifted to perform healings then don’t expect her or him to speak prophecies….they have not been so fitted.

This is true concerning EVERY situation a human will experience in her or his life. For instance, if they are given a crippling, physical infirmity to endure then they are fitted with that extra ability from God and Jesus that you and I would NOT have. This is much like a blind person inheriting that extra-ordinary sense of hearing enabling them to cope with the loss of their sight, as well the mental capacity to handle their situation as well.

If a person appears to be raised in a very unpleasant and even disgusting environment and at a seeming disadvantage on many fronts, rest assured our Father and His Son have equipped that individual (whether believer or non-believer) to properly and successfully handle their situation….an ability you and I would not have unless They would properly fit us if we were in that same situation.

There is a very good example in Exodus 16:18 of how God and Jesus ALWAYS balance out EVERY situation for both believers and non-believers during our lives. In this narrative,  the ones that gathered a lot to eat had none left over and the ones who gathered the lesser amounts still had no need for more….it ALWAYS nicely balances out….FAIR ‘n BALANCED!

Quite simply, what might scare and defeat me you could handle like a breeze if our Father and our Savior were to try you in that manner and then properly fitted you to handle it. And, how beautiful is the truth in 1 Corinthians 10:13 clearly stating NO ONE will EVER be tried beyond what we are able to bear.

How blessed and fortunate are ALL humans to have such a One as God is as well as His Son, but especially Christians.

Take care in Him,

Fred

Our Tailor Made Cross

Hi, there!

Here is an excerpt from one of 365 daily readings from the book “Streams In The Desert” by L.B. Cowman and it can be found at http://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/desert/streams-in-the-desert-august-29th.html . Here we go:

“And he went out carrying his own cross (John 19:17).

There is a poem called “The Changed Cross.” It represents a weary one who thought that her cross was surely heavier than those of others whom she saw about her, and she wished that she might choose an other instead of her own. She slept, and in her dream she was led to a place where many crosses lay, crosses of different shapes and sizes. There was a little one most beauteous to behold, set in jewels and gold. “Ah, this I can wear with comfort,” she said. So she took it up, but her weak form shook beneath it. The jewels and the gold were beautiful, but they were far too heavy for her.

Next she saw a lovely cross with fair flowers entwined around its sculptured form. Surely that was the one for her. She lifted it, but beneath the flowers were piercing thorns which tore her flesh.

At last, as she went on, she came to a plain cross, without jewels, without carvings, with only a few words of love inscribed upon it. This she took up and it proved the best of all, the easiest to be borne. And as she looked upon it, bathed in the radiance that fell from Heaven, she recognized her own old cross. She had found it again, and it was the best of all and lightest for her.

God knows best what cross we need to bear. We do not know how heavy other people’s crosses are. We envy someone who is rich; his is a golden cross set with jewels, but we do not know how heavy it is. Here is another whose life seems very lovely. She bears a cross twined with flowers. If we could try all the other crosses that we think lighter than our own, we would at last find that not one of them suited us so well as our own.

Extraordinary Divine Favors

Hey, there!

Here are some insightful quotes of truth from “Abandonment To Divine Providence” taken from http://www.ccel.org/ccel/decaussade/abandonment.ii_1.ii.i.vii.html ….editing and emphasis will be mine:

“Those graces which are called extraordinary and are given as privileges to certain souls, are only so called because there are so few sufficiently faithful to become worthy  of receiving them. This will be made manifest at the day of judgment.”

“Alas! it will then be seen that instead of these divine favours having been withheld by God, it has been entirely by their own fault  that these souls have been deprived of them.”

“What UNTOLD BLESSINGS  they would have received through the COMPLETE SUBMISSION of a steadfast goodwill ,”

End of quotes.

Saints that come to mind of whom he is referring to are the likes of Brother Lawrence (please reference the Category “Practice The Presence Of God”) and all the other mystics and faithful ones who attained to this high degree of submission and abandonment.

All the best, in Him.

All Is Well….It Is The Will Of God

Greetings!

I want to pass along to you some of the excerpts I read this morning from Chapter 2 Section 2 in the book I wrote about in my last Post and the entire Section can be found at http://www.ccel.org/ccel/decaussade/abandonment.ii_1.i.ii.ii.html . Here goes:

“The soul, enlightened by faith, judges of things in a very different way to those who, having only the standard of the senses by which to measure them, ignore the inestimable treasure they contain.”

“It throws open all its doors to receive with honour what others fear and fly from with horror. The outward appearance may be mean and contemptible, but beneath this abject garb the heart discovers and honours the majesty of the king. The deeper the abasement of his entry in such a guise and in secret the more does the heart become filled with love. I cannot describe what the heart feels when it accepts the divine will in such humble, poor, and mean disguises.”

“Faith is strengthened, increased and enriched by those things that escape the senses; the less there is to see, the more there is to believe.”

“To consider God equally good in things that are petty and ordinary as in those that are great and uncommon is to have a faith that is not ordinary, but great and extraordinary.”

“To be satisfied with the present moment is to delight in, and to adore the divine will in all that has to be done or suffered in all that succession of events that fill, as they pass, each present moment. Those souls that have this disposition adore God with redoubled love and respect in each consecutive humiliating condition; nothing can hide Him from the piercing eye of faith. The louder the senses proclaim that in this, or that, there is no God; the more firmly do these souls clasp and embrace their “bundle of myrrh.” Nothing daunts them, nothing disgusts them.”

“The life of faith is nothing less than the continued pursuit of God through all that disguises, disfigures, destroys and, so to say, annihilates Him.”

“Faith, while showing us things as they are, changes their ugliness into beauty, and their malice into virtue. Faith is the mother of sweetness, confidence and joy. It cannot help feeling tenderness and compassion for its enemies by whose means it is so immeasurably enriched. The greater the harshness and severity of the creature, the greater by the operation of God, is the advantage to the soul.”

“The will of God has nothing but sweetness, favours and treasures for submissive souls; it is impossible to repose too much confidence in it, nor to abandon oneself to it too utterly. It always acts for, and desires that which is most conducive to our perfection, provided we allow it to act.”

“The more unfaithful, uncertain, and rebellious are the senses, the louder faith cries: “all is well, it is the will of God.” There is nothing that the eye of faith does not penetrate, nothing that the power of faith does not overcome. It passes through the thick darkness, and, no matter what clouds may gather, it goes straight to the truth, and holding to it firmly will never let it go.”

Until later,

Fred

God and Christ Jesus Are In Us ALL THE TIME!!!

Greetings!  This is one of the most beautiful and blessed truths that a believer possesses. Literally, God and Christ Jesus are within us every second of our lives and They NEVER, EVER leave us!  And the best part, They are always there to help, comfort and do ALL They can for our highest good! WOW!!!

Let’s look at a few Scriptures concerning this.

Jesus is within us: 2 Corinthians 13:5;Galatians 2:20; Colossians 1:27

God is within us: Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:16: Ephesians 2:22

The Holy Spirit is within us: 2 Timothy 1:14; 1Thessalonians 4:7

Now, it is true that They have Their “Headquarters”, so to speak, in the ‘3rd heaven’ where Paul visited….2 Corinthians 12:2. However, God and Jesus not only defy the concept of time as we humans know it (2 Peter 3:8) but space and distance as well: They are EVERYWHERE at one time….Acts 17:27,28.

The joyous and most valuable lesson we must come to realize is that we have to GET PASS the FALSE CONCEPT that God and Christ Jesus are “up there somewhere in heaven” while we are down here on earth, separated from Them. NOTHING can be further from the truth: They are ALWAYS as close to us as our breathing. And, we need to learn to look to Them as being EVEN CLOSER than that….and be going to Them continually, as well as ‘chatting’ with Them, aside from any formal prayer.

This is truly ‘Practicing The Presence Of God’!  (Please reference the Post on this subject.)

Quench Not The Spirit

Hi, there!

1 Thessalonian 5:19: “Quench not the Spirit.” Strong’s defines the Greek word for quench as ‘to put out’, ‘suppress’ and ‘extinguish’.

The Holy Spirit given to us when we were called and subsequently believed CAN BE a very powerful and active force in our lives, as indicated by the Post “Feel The POWER!!”. As well, we have the ability to bear those wonderful, Holy fruits (literally ‘fruit’) of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23. Even further, it CAN BE our Comforter/Advocate as shown in John 14:26 and also lead us into “all truth” as promised in John 16:13.

The key operative words here are obviously ‘can be’. The choice is up to us. That is why Paul could tell Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:6 to “stir up the gift of God” within himself (Young’s Literal). Paul also told Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:14 to “be not careless of the gift in you”.

The ‘flesh’, along with a lack of faith, is shown throughout the Scriptures as being the major factor in prohibiting us from fully and joyfully benefiting  from our reservoir of unimaginable blessings when it wins out over the Spirit (Romans 7:14-25 and others).  At any given moment, we are either serving one or the other.

We are serving the ‘flesh’ when we are engaged in any activities specifically forbidden by God. These not only include the more obvious ones such as lying, stealing, drunkenness, adultery/fornication, etc. but the more subtle ones: gossip, greed, worrying needlessly, being overly attentive to life’s daily chores and functions (Matthew 13:22), thinking vain and useless thoughts….and the list goes on. Individually and collectively, they serve to ‘extinguish’, ‘put out’ and ‘suppress’ the glorious workings of the precious Holy Spirit that resides in our hearts.

On the other hand, when we are disposed to that which is of God and Christ Jesus the Holy Spirit can bless us beyond anything imaginable (Ephesians 3:20-21). Regimented Bible study, church attendance, charitable works and dutiful/obligatory prayer, no matter how often performed, will NOT help much either UNLESS they steer us toward looking to the Father and Jesus on a continual moment by moment basis in all our waking moments. Please reference the Posts “Bible Study Is Good…”IF…”BUT”…” and “Practicing The Presence Of God”.

Not that rewards should be our primary motive is doing God’s will but Hebrews 11:6 does remind us that “to those seeking Him He becomes a rewarder”. Bearing the “fruit of the Spirit” is an AWESOME reward, I would say!

There will obviously still be difficult and trying circumstances but we will be able to find JOY even in these times as Paul did time after time after time in his afflictions and suffferings. Nothing “will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord” (Romans 8:39).

Later, in Christ.

ALL Creation Will Be Saved

Hello!

Let’s cover one of the most WONDERFUL truths in the Bible: that God, through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus….WILL SAVE THE ENTIRE CREATION….all in due time, in their particular order (believers are first then others follow…1 Corinthians 15 22-24, James 1:18).

In the early era of Christianity, THE MAJORITY OF THE CHURCHES BELIEVED IN THE SALVATION OF ALL…yup!! Please read on.

The following is an excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_reconciliation (emphasis will be mine throughout):

“In the early Church, universalism (this means the salvation of the entire creation) was a FLOURISHING  theological doctrine[4].[5][6][7] Reconciliation is the main belief that distinguishes Christian Universalism from other forms of Christianity.

Various theologians, including Clement of Alexandria and Origen in the 3rd century, St. Gregory of Nyssa in the 4th century, and St. Isaac the Syrian in the 7th century, EXPRESSED UNIVERSALIST positions in early Christianity.[citation needed] Though Gregory of Nyssa was a known universalist, he was never condemned. He was additionally declared “the father of fathers” by the seventh ecumenical council.[8][9][10][11]

Modern universalists[who?] claim that universalism was the primary doctrine of the church until it was forcibly stamped out by the Catholic Church in the sixth century. FOUR of the six theological schools of thought in ancient Christendom SUPPORTED UNIVERSALISM, and ONLY ONE supported eternal damnation.[citation needed]”   (End of excerpt)

More importantly, let’s notice what the Scriptures say.

The supreme testament is from  Jesus Himself in John 12:32 (emphasis mine):

“and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw ALL  men unto Myself.” (Young’s Literal New Testament, New Standard Version, and others)

No ambiguity here….plain and simple….”ALL” will be saved….His words not mine!

Here are some other verses taken from Young’s Literal Version that leave no doubt that none will eventually, during the course of the ages, be able to escape God’s Love, Wisdom and Power (emphasis is mine throughout) :

Romans 5:18-19:

“18 So, then, as through one offence to ALL men [it is] to condemnation, so also through one declaration of `Righteous’ [it is] to ALL men to justification of life; 19 for as through the disobedience of the one man, the MANY were constituted sinners: so also through the obedience of the one, shall the MANY (this is the same “MANY” mentioned above) be constituted righteous.”

Romans 11:26, 32:

“for God did shut up together the WHOLE to unbelief, that to the WHOLE He might do kindness.”

Romans 8:20,21:

“20 for to vanity was THE CREATION made subject — not of its will, but because of Him Who did subject [it] — in hope, 21 that also THE CREATION itself shall be set free from the servitude of the corruption to the liberty of the glory of the children of God;”

I Corinthians 15:22-24:

“for even as in Adam ALL die, so also in the Christ ALL shall be made alive” (the ‘ALL’ represents the ENTIRE creation!!)

I Corinthians 15:27-28:

“27 for ALL things He did put under his feet, and, when one may say that ALL things have been subjected, [it is] evident that He is excepted who did subject the ALL things to him, 28 and when the ALL things may be subjected to Him, then the Son also Himself shall be subject to Him, who did subject to him the ALL things, that God may be the ALL in ALL.” (the ‘ALL’ represents the ENTIRE creation!!)

II Corinthians 5:14-15:

“if One died for the sake of ALL, consequently ALL died, And He died for the sake of ALL” (the ‘ALL’ represents the ENTIRE creation!!)

II Corinthians 5:19:

namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the WORLD to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” (He reconciled the “world” to Himself through Christ, NOT JUST BELIEVERS….we believers are first and then the rest will follow as written in I Corinthians 15:23,26)

Ephesians 1:22-23:

“22 and ALL things He did put under his feet, and did give Him — head over ALL things to the assembly, 23 which is his body, the fulness of Him who is filling the ALL in ALL” (the ‘ALL’ represents the ENTIRE creation!!)

Philippians 2:10-11:

“10 that in the name of Jesus EVERY knee may bow — of heavenlies, and earthlies, and what are under the earth — 11 and EVERY tongue may confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Philippians 3:21:

“according to the working of his power, even to subject to Himself the ALL things.” (the ‘ALL’ represents the ENTIRE creation!!)

Colossians 1:20:

“and through Him to reconcile the ALL things to Himself    having made peace through the blood of his cross” (the ‘ALL’ represents the ENTIRE creation!!)

I Timothy 4:10:

“for for this we both labor and are reproached, because we hope on the living God, who is Saviour of ALL men — especially of those believing.” (This verse leaves absolutely no doubt. It is “especially of those believing” because, after the Firstfruit of Christ Himself, believers are the next in line to partake of this glorious inheritance….the rest follow at the ‘consummation’, when ‘death’ is finally abolished” 1 Corinthians 15:23,26)

End of listed Scriptures.

God, through Christ, created each of us and He knows the right buttons to push to get us to use our ‘free’ choice/will  to accept Him.  Take Saul of Tarsus as an example. He was Satan’s CHIEF HONCHO…..being the leader of those persecuting the Church….rounding up Christians to be imprisoned and killed, with his wholehearted blessing. Truly, he was  “the worst of sinners”. (I Timothy 1:15…..New International Version)

And, it took about how long for Christ  to change the tune of “the worst of sinners” after he saw the vision and heard the voice?  Exactly, a mere matter of moments/minutes.  No sinner….from the ‘worst’ to the ‘least’…. is a match for God’s LOVE, WISDOM and POWER.

And finally, please reference the Posts “Misunderstanding About The Salvation Of All”, “Death” and “Hell” for further clarification.

Until later,
